Load Balancing in Distributed Systems

I worked on a load balancing scheme for a network of Sun workstations, sharing a common distributed filesystem. The load balancing scheme used heuristics to dynamically make decisions about where to execute incoming jobs. One of the crucial parameters in any load balancing scheme is the characterization of the workstation workload. The respective insights gained and the resulting performance are reported in [6].
