lEnergy conservation mechanisms should not add significant energy consumption or traffic demands on the network
lIt should be able to answer the following
questions:
oWhen to put the node to sleep without knowledge of
traffic patterns?
oWhen to wake the node up?
oWhat is the sleep state of a neighbor?
oIf the neighbor is asleep when will it wake up?
lThere should be no major effect on the normal network functionality (e.g. no major traffic loss)
